Woohoo. Welcome to the first post of the blog, "Code and Cars". Perhaps I'll find a better name for it, but for now, it works. Yes, I know I'm over 7 years late on the craze. Truth be told, I don't really like the term blog. But if the shoe fits...
So where to begin? The reason for this site? The shortest answer is that I found myself replying in other's journals with long, drawn-out posts, so I might as well do it somewhere nice and organized for that sort of thing.
Well, that and this is a blatant and transparent attempt to show my skills to any prospective employers who'll do a google search for me. Yes! You! Look at this page! It's meeee!
Even without the quotes, as of this writing, the first 14 Google matches are directly to me. Even my rabid fanboyism on El Reg, and a page or two on my Alma Mater. Good god, my letter about Quickdraw 3D; how embarassking! Honestly, I'm not entirely sure that these last two paragraphs help my prospects, but its worthiness is justified by the oppurtunity to quote Popeye.
The whole angle of this journal, the catch to give this a uniqueness, is to cover both programming, typically for the Mac, and driving a tow truck for AAA. It's a long, possibly amusing story of events as to how, I've come to know these two areas. There will be entries addressing just programming, and entries addressing just cars. But the really interesting trick is tying the two together, and to use one for a viewpoint for the other.
Stick around. This might get to be fun!
